Ashbourne is suffering from a dire need of openly accesible, public spaces. Recent lockdowns due to Covid 19 only further highlighted the need for such space. Ashbourne needs a regional size park of 80 acres at absolute minimum. An independent report commissed by a council endorsed provider recommended this minimum size of 80 acres. A site has already been selected for appropriate zoning, supported by Councillors,  funds allocated in budget to commence the process,  and this should now be followed through in the Development plan. Any other action would be entirely counterproductive and a waste of resources already expended on the project.
