Join us in shaping appropriate climate actions to facilitate and enable effective climate action at a local and community level and producing Meath’s County Climate Action Plan 2024 – 2029.
Under the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021, Meath County Council is required to prepare a local authority climate action plan for our administrative area to facilitate the transition to a climate resilient, biodiversity rich, environmentally sustainable and climate neutral economy, with a target of 51% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The aim of the LACAP is to put the County Meath on a trajectory towards achieving climate neutrality by no later than the end of 2050.
Meath County Council has completed the first phase of building the evidence base, which includes the following:
Climate Change Risk Assessment for County Meath
An assessment of the impacts of current and future climate change risks and hazards on County Meath.
Baseline Emissions Inventories (BEI)
The assessment of the Baseline Emissions Inventories (BEI) for the County and each of the decarbonising zones are based on the year 2018. The BEI represents an evidence-based approach to inform emission reduction actions for Meath’s County Climate Action Plan. The BEIs will enable Meath County Council to monitor and report on the efficacy of actions on the road to net zero.

Both the engagement survey and consultation submissions will be accepted from Friday July 14th to Monday 14st August 2023.
