A new action plan for nature in Meath - have your say!

Meath County Council is seeking your assistance with the preparation of a Biodiversity Action Plan.

Meath Council is undertaking a pre-draft public consultation on the Meath Biodiversity Action Plan 2025 – 2030. Your feedback in this consultation will be used to inform the vision, aims and actions of the plan.

Completion of this survey constitutes an official submission at this pre-draft stage of the process. A further public engagement process will take place once a draft action plan has been prepared.

What is Biodiversity?

Biodiversity is nature. Biodiversity describes the variety of life on Earth – the variety of animals, plants, fungi, and even microorganisms like bacteria that make up our natural world.

What is a Local Authority Biodiversity Action Plan?

A Local Authority Biodiversity Action Plan is designed to provide a structured approach to biodiversity conservation at the local authority level. It outlines the objectives, strategies, and actions needed to protect and enhance biodiversity within a specific local authority area.

How can I take part in the Pre-Draft Public Consultation Process?

  • Attend one of the pre-draft consultation drop-in information sessions which will be held during April 2024 – details provided below.
  • Complete the online survey at the link below on or before Monday, 27 May 2024 and / or
  • Written submissions are also invited and should be sent by post to Biodiversity Officer, Planning Department, Meath County Council, Buvinda House, Dublin Road, Navan, Co. Meath, C15 Y291 on or before closing date for submissions on Monday, 27 May 2024

Information gathered during this process will feed into the new Biodiversity Action Plan for County Meath which will provide a structured approach to biodiversity conservation at the local level.
