Ashbourne

Proposed Amendment Number:

I'm a resident of Ashbourne for 13 years now and I cannot believe that I need to make such a submission to try fight for a suitable and obviously much needed facility in Ashbourne.  Year after year the residents of Ashbourne are made promises about green space development only for those promises to ultimitely prove to be false.

Ashbourne has grown rapidly over the last number of years but unfortunately Meath County Council has not deemd it necessary to zone land accordingly and help provide a space where families and people can go and enjoy the open air together.  We have a playground that is totally unfit for purpose given that when the sun shines it's completely overcrowded.  We have a limited amount of walkways, all of which were jammed with pedestrians, joggers, cyclists and dogs all through the current pandemic as ther is nowhere else to go.  Enough is enough.

The proposed 80 acre site adjacent ot Churchfields is the perfect location.  It comes at the end of one of Ashbournes few pathways that joins several estates and right the way across to the main road into Ashbourne.

To allow this land to have more housing built on it and not rezoned for a public space is a completer dereliction if duty by Meath County Council and a thumb in the eye to the residents of Ashbourne.
