Ashbourne
The current area identified for rezoning as a public greenspace are perfect. Independant assessments were carried out previously and supported our councillors views. To have to go back to the drawing board is a complete waste of resources. Although Meath Co. Council have previously stated that funds are not available to support this project, we the residents believe that once the land is secured, multiple funding channels can be accessed. Our community is fully committed to supporting this project to the end. Covid 19 & the lockdown really highlighted to the residents of Ashbourne just how underfunded our town is. Considering the revenue that is gained from the Local Property Tax from residents in Ashbourne alone and the substainal amount of homes being built and levies been paid by developers to MCC, I believe it is only fitting that Ashbourne has a proper 80 acre greenspace for the people of Ashbourne to enjoy. MCC cannot ignore the simple fact that Ashbourne has been ignored through the years. I fully support my elected representatives in their fight for this greenspace. Any proposal to build MORE houses at the proposed entrance to our estate is huge mistake. We cannot create a concrete jungle with nowhere for the residents to enjoy greenspace. Any planner would agree with this.
