Ashbourne
I fully support the rezoning of 80 acres of lands for the purpose of a public park in Ashbourne.
Currently there is very little public green space for exercise and pre covid we had been travelling as a family into Dublin to partake in exercise and outdoor activities such as park runs. During covid and level 5 restrictions on travel, there was no option to exercise in Ashbourne other than on busy regional roads and housing estates, which are both dangerous from a road safety perspective and unhealthy due to exposure from toxic car fumes. Not good enough MCC!
With restrictions easing, as a family we now find ourselves commuting once again for recreational purposes to neighbouring counties such as Dublin City and Fingal. We are spending money in other counties - a missed opportunity for economic development within the community of Ashbourne, where we reside.
Meath Co Co strives to be the driver of "economic, social, cultural and environmental improvement of our county to enhance the quality of life of the people of Meath". This must apply to Ashbourne - please provide the essential green infrastructure necessary to support and sustain our vibrant and growing community.
