The current 80 acres identified for rezoning as public greenspace are ideal, situated within walking distance of most houses in the town. The impact this would have on the quality of life for the residents of Ashbourne and surrounding areas cannot be overstated.
Extensive work has been done on locating suitable grounds for this, which does not need to be repeated or delayed any further.
Once the land is secured, mutiple funding channels can be accessed and there is a huge willingness on behalf of the community to engage in this process.
Lands at Churchfields have been identified as an appropriate entrance to the park and should absolutely not be used to build further houses at the detriment of making this green space work for the residents and all potential park users.
Please ensure this proposal turns into a reality. Ashbourne has been badly served for years regarding an accessible greenspace and now is the time to put that right.
