Navan Cycle Scheme: Beechmount to Balreask Manor

Non–Statutory Public Consultation

Emerging Preferred Route

Meath County Council in partnership with the National Transport Authority is developing proposed facilities for Navan Cycle Scheme: Beechmount to Balreask Manor (B2BM).

The B2BM scheme is currently at Phase 2 - Concept Design and Option Development. Following the Option Development Appraisal and Identification process, the project team has now selected an Emerging Preferred Route for B2BM.  The Emerging Preferred Route shall tie in with a scheme of Active Travel infrastructure, currently under construction on the Trim Road, at the junction between Trim Road and Beechmount Avenue. The Emerging Preferred Route shall introduce improved cycling and pedestrian infrastructure between Beechmount and Balreask Manor with new 2-way cycle tracks running for the majority of the route.

We now wish to consult with the public on the B2BM Emerging Preferred Route. Meath County Council is opening a process of public consultation on the B2BM Emerging Preferred Route which will run for 4 weeks from Monday 13th November to Friday 8th December 2023.

An in-person consultation event will be held on the 13th of November 2023 between 3pm and 7pm in the Knowth Suite at the Newgrange Hotel in Navan. This will be a great opportunity to meet with the project team, learn about the proposed scheme and provide feedback.

We are keen to get a wide range of views, and we want to engage with as many people as possible in the consultation process, so that we can be confident that the proposed scheme is the best way forward. If members of local communities, cyclists, pedestrians, and other road users, interested individuals or groups have any comments in relation to the proposed B2BM Emerging Preferred Route, we will use the submissions received to inform the proposal for the B2BM Preferred Route, that will be consulted on later in 2024.
