Public Rights of Way gives access to seashore riverbank or other place of natural beauty or recreational utility, identified to date by the Council in accordance with Section 10 (2) (a) of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended).

ARU 1

From the north west corner of the Peoples Park at the Tower of Lloyd, Kells across the Commons of Lloyd to Clavens Bridge on Regional Road R147; Along the south bank of the waterworks canal from Clavens Bridge to the Victorian Waterworks in the Kells Business Park; and from the Victorian Waterworks in the Kells Business Park to and including the Peoples Park at the Tower of Lloyd, Kells.

ARU 2

The entire Porch Field complex in Trim, including the river walk along the Boyne River. Access to and egress from Porch Field is available at the following public roads:

  1. Local Road L-8016-2, at the north-east corner of the Porch Field in Trim.
  2. Regional Road R154, at the west side of the Boyne Bridge, at a point 65 metres north of the R154/R160/R898 roundabout in Trim.
  3. Regional Road R154, at the east side of the Boyne Bridge, at a pint 65 metres north of the R154/R160/R898 roundabout in Trim.
  4. Regional Road R154, on the west side of the road, at a point midway between the R154/R160/R898 roundabout and the R154/L-8016-2 junction in Trim.
  5. Regional Road R154, on the east side of the road, at a point midway between the R154/R160/R898 roundabout and the R154/L-8016-2 junction in Trim.
  6. Regional Road R154, on the west side of the road, at a point 280 metres south of the R154/L-8016-2 junction in Trim.
  7. Regional Road R154, on the east side of the road, at a point 280 metres south of the R154/L-8016-2 junction in Trim.
  8. Frenches Lane at Trim Castle in Trim.
  9. Abbey Lane at the north west corner of the Porch Field in Trim.

ARU 3

From the public car-park on the local road L-28007-0, in the townland of Corstown, Oldcastle, to the Megalithic Tomb on Slieve na Calliagh and the farmland on which the Megalithic Tomb is located.

ARU 4

From Local Road L-62001-0 in the townland of Castletown, Tara to the Hill of Tara complex and over the entire Hill of Tara complex.

ARU 5

From Local Road L-56033-0 at the public car-park on the Hill of Slane, to the Hill of Slane complex and over the entire Hill of Slane complex.

Location

R1

Along the towpath of the Boyne Navigation Canal, from a point 77 metres east of Athlumney Bridge in Navan to the Broadboyne Bridge in Ardmulchan.

R2

Along the towpath of the Boyne Navigation Canal, from the public car-park, on the south side of Slane Bridge, for a distance of 2.4 kilometres in an easterly direction.

R3

Along the towpath of the Boyne Navigation Canal, from the public car-park, located at the junction of the Local Road L-1600-0 and Local Road L-16011-0 at Giltown, Donore, to the water pumping station at Roughgrange, Donore.

R4

Along the towpath of the Boyne Navigation Canal, from The Lock, Donore to the Meath County Council Sewerage Works at Donore.

R5

Along the towpath of the Boyne Navigation Canal, from the Local Road L-16014-0 at the south side of Obelisk Bridge at Oldbridge, Drogheda, for a distance of 970 metres in a southerly direction to the Horse Bridge at the entrance to the Battle of the Boyne Public Park.

R6

Along the south bank of the Broadmeadow River in Ashbourne, from the junction of Bridge Street and Castle Street on Regional Road R135 to Local Road  L-50191-61 at the Meath County Council Sewage Pumping Station.

R7

Along the south bank of the Broadmeadow River in Ratoath, from a point 53 metres east of the junction of Regional Road R155 and Local Road L-50200-48 for a length of 470 metres to the “James Corbellis” Bridge and via the pedestrian bridge over the Broadmeadow River to Regional Road R125 at the Catholic Church in Ratoath, for a length of 243 metres.
